Kate & Dom decided to book me in as the DJ for their stunning wedding at Maleny Retreat in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The first time I met Kate & Dom was over Skype as they were planning their wedding from Victoria. We spent a lot of time talking about music, they really like Triple J and alternative music so we were discussing ways to effectively incorporate the music that they love in to the soundtrack for their wedding day. Their pre-dancing playlist was really interesting and eclectic, with influences of dub, reggae, and singer/songwriter vibes tying in nicely with the bohemian atmosphere of the tipi that their reception took place in.
Kate & Dom tied the knot in an open field with a breathtaking view of the glasshouse mountains as their backdrop. Their ceremony was officiated by Triple J radio announcer Rosie Beaton, which was a nice surprise for their guests.
Kate & Dom shared their first dance as husband and wife to the track “Make It Wit Chu” by “Queens of the Stone Age”. Shortly after, their dance floor was filled with their friends and family who danced right through until 11PM when the reception ended with a special song selection from Kate & Dom “Your Party” by Ween.
This wedding was such a great example of a hinterland tipi wedding done right. It was classy, elegant, authentic and natural. It was my pleasure to bring a dance set that tied everything together, and helped to create everlasting memories for Kate, Dom and their guests.
